Girls on the Glow canceled their

Spring 2020 season

Anyone who registered will get a full refund by May 1

GLOW
What do we mean by GLOW?  G.L.O.W. stands for Grow, Learn, Offer, and Work, which is what the girls are expected to do at each and every practice. We want every girl to discover her inner GLOW that comes from achieving a goal, as an individual and as a team, through effort, determination and cooperation.

PRACTICES
We will meet weekly on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m. from March to May for the spring session and September to November for the fall session. A developmental lesson will be presented each week; the physical activities that follow will be related to the topic to reinforce the lesson while the girls develop their strength and endurance. Lesson topics cover subjects like overcoming obstacles, teamwork, goal setting, confidence, personal safety and nutrition. Physical activities include warm ups, obstacle courses, relays, tag, jumping rope, sit up/push up challenges, cool down exercises, and so much more!

SESSIONS
Girls on the GLOW runs in the spring and the fall. Each session is 7-8 weeks in duration. The girls are encouraged to continue their training throughout the year by logging their activities in their journals.

MEMBERSHIP
Membership is available through the Mullica Hill Women’s Triathlon Club, a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing women for their own fitness journey.  The fee for membership is $30 per session. Registration needs to be completed by a parent or guardian and is available online. Each participant will receive a Girls on the GLOW t-shirt, a journal, and a water bottle.

AGE GROUPS
Most times, the participants will be grouped as 1st-3rd graders, and 4th-6th graders with one head coach and at least one assistant coach per group.  If there aren’t sufficient volunteers, all of the girls will be grouped together.

ASPIRING ATHLETES
GLOW offers the opportunity for our “Aspiring Athletes” to train for a 5k or even a youth triathlon. After the lesson activities, our Aspiring Athletes will run for distance and time as they prepare for the 3 mile race experience. The suggested ages for this group are grades 3-6; however, age shouldn’t be the determining factor in joining this program. Please consult with your daughter and make the decision together based on her goals and fitness level. A high level of commitment and fitness is expected of these athletes so that they can achieve their goals.

GLOW WITH MOM
We are excited to include a unique aspect to our program called GLOW With Mom. This part of our program is intended to strengthen the mother/daughter bond at a critical age for our girls. Throughout the season, we will offer opportunities for our girls and their moms to spend quality time together. Examples of past GLOW With Mom events include paint nights, cupcake decorating, yoga, Zumba and much more. These extra-curricular activities are optional as your schedule allows and may require a separate registration and fee.

LOCATION
Weekly practices will take place at J. Mason Tomlin Elementary School on Main Street in Mantua Township. We have access to the all-purpose room so if it’s too cold or rainy we can still hold our practice indoors. We will have special events, such as our GLOW Run Finale which will be held at Clearview Regional High School on Breakneck Road in Mullica Hill. Each of our GLOW With Mom events will each have its own location. Occasionally, the girls will have the opportunity to participate in a local running events.

VOLUNTEERS
One of the requirements of membership is for all parents/guardians to serve as a GLOW Mom/Dad for at least one practice because our girls can’t GLOW without our amazing volunteers! The role of GLOW Mom is to support the coaches in their activities for that day. We are also looking for women who would like to coach our girls and share their own inner GLOW! Each age group will need two coaches: a head coach and an assistant coach. The number of coaches needed will depend on the number of girls that sign up. We will also need help with our events throughout the year. If you are interested in helping in any way or if you have an older daughter who would like to volunteer, please email dina@mhwtc.com.

FOUNDERS
Girls on the GLOW is founded by a group of women who are athletes, mothers, professional counselors, teachers and coaches who have a sincere interest, just as you do, in helping our girls find their inner GLOW. We bring our experience and enthusiasm to this endeavor, and we hope that you and your daughters will join us in the journey!
