She Swims, She Bikes, She Runs SheROX
Mullica Hill Women's Tri Club-
August 1, 2010

We couldn't be more proud of you all!  You did it.  Over 60 of you completed the swim, the run and the bike.  Most of you exercised for over two hours straight.  Completing a triathlon is something less than 1% of women have done.  We can only hope it was an incredible experience for you and you enjoyed the journey.  Many of us started together in March. It was 38 degrees and our fingers were so cold we could barely grasp the brakes on our bikes.  As the weather broke, we started swimming together and experienced the " joy" of  the lake, complete with brown faces.  In the middle of June we started our brick workouts, combing the bike and a run.   We know this was difficult for so many of you, but a very important part of training.  July brought extreme heat and TWO practice triathlons. Kudos to all of you who showed up.  It was over 90 degrees for both.  As SheRox approached we received many emails.  I never doubted any of you who put the time in to train.  As we said in our email before the race.  Every stroke you did in a pool or a lake, every shift of the gear and all those mornings you woke up to train had prepared you for this day!  August 1st was a glorious day!  To all of you who signed up and completed the race, a heartfelt congratulations.  To those of you who decided to wait a year... don't worry we will all be here for you this time next year.

Congratulations my fellow triathletes.

There were two of us on the starting line!  The swim was canceled and replaced with a 3.1 mile run. Hot!  Damn Hot!   The run was followed by a 25 mile (hill) ride and a 6.2 mile run to the finish.  Congrats to Kat Garrity and Colleen Fossett on their 2nd Olympic Tri Finish. These are never easy.

Parvin Triathlon, Saturday, June 19th, Parvin State Park, Pilesgrove NJ          http://www.dqtridu.com/psp10Results.htm

What a way to kick off the Tri season.  It was a sea of pink shirts in the transition area at Parvin.  It was a "preview" of what was to come later in the summer.  The swim was a 1/4 mile, the bike 12 miles and the run 3.1 miles!  It was a beautiful day and everyone finished with a smile.  A few members ( Lisa Marano and Kristin Visalli) won awards for the group.  Congrats girls.  We will need to do this one again.

Mullica Hill Women's Tri Club 5k- June 11, 2010

Friday night, June 11th was a beautiful night and it got even prettier when 28 of our club members stepped on the starting line ready to rock our first " unofficial " 5K.  Special thanks to Maureen & Erin Brigham for marking up the streets with chalk and managing the water stop.  Thank you to my brother; Chuck who rode the course to make sure everyone was safe and running in the right direction.  Rocky music played in the background, and the neighbors and kids were cheering from their lawn.

Just 20 minutes into the race we see a runner (what?)  Jennifer McCarthy is flying up the street all by herself, she crossed the finish line in just over 22 minutes,  sweeeet!  Not too far behind was Jayne Gandy who finished at just about 23 + and  Kat Garrity finished in third place with an extremely respectable 24:18.  Way to go girls!  Awards were given to all three winners. Thanks to all of you for attending our first 5K, we hope to make this an annual event.  The after party was great as well!

Broad Street Run: May 2nd 2010 , Philadelphia, PA

Results:  http://results.active.com/pages/page.jsp?eventLinkageID=492

The Broad Street Run is quite the experience.  From the  moment you get on the very crowded subway to your first step out on the street of North Broad.

The nervousness is palpable, the lines for the bathroom; ridiculous and the amount of people who are willing to wake up and run 10 miles down Broad; overwhelming!  It was a hot, humid Sunday but 11 of our club members did it!

Congrats to  Diane Palladino, Leigh Ann Redington, Michelle Powell, Andrea Bramblett Colleen Fossett, Jennifer Bagin , Kathryn McDermott,Eileen Flax Maureen Brigham , Laura Bonanni and Lisa Marano
